Bolling "Bo" P. Starke, Jr.
Chairman of the Board
Graduating from Auburn University in 1960 as a recognized leader, Bo entered the United States Navy as a commissioned officer. While in the Navy, he learned entrepreneurial and management skills running the Officer’s Club. From this experience, he attributes gaining his conservative financial management style and ability to build deep relationships with employees. He returned to Montgomery in 1962 after the birth of his son and purchased the agency from his father in 1971.
Bo has always had a strong sense of community and has been actively involved in numerous civic and charitable causes such as United Way, Lions Club and Men of Montgomery. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce and as President of Alabama Wildlife Federation.
Bolling “Trey” P. Starke, III, CPCU, CIC
“Trey” graduated from the University of Alabama, Summa Cum Laude. He worked in Atlanta, Georgia for one of the largest insurance brokerage and risk management companies in the United States. After two years in Atlanta, Trey moved back to Montgomery in 1986 to work for Starke Agency and went on to become president in 1996. Under Trey’s leadership, Starke Agency has expanded its customer base across the Southeast and become a nationally recognized insurance brokerage and risk management company. In addition to his leadership at Starke Agency, he is also on the Board of Directors for River Bank & Trust.
Trey received his CPCU designation in 1991 and CIC in 1996. Shortly after receiving his CPCU, Trey served two terms as President of the Central Alabama CPCU chapter. Over the years, Trey has consistently maintained his professional designations in order to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
Trey has been actively involved in community functions, currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Tukabatchee Area Council for the Boy Scouts of America and Montgomery Business Committee for the Arts. He is currently a member of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100. He has also been on the Board of Directors for the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Montgomery, American Red Cross and United Way. Trey has been a two-time Group I (Corporate Giving) Chairman for the United Way, and he was named Boss of the Year in 2010 by the Greater Montgomery Insurance Professionals.
Charles "Charlie" A. Harris, III, CRM, CIC
Executive Vice President
Charlie Harris is also a third generation insurance professional. He graduated from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1979. Charlie earned and has maintained his CIC designation since 1984, as well as a CRM designation since 2003.
Charlie has also held numerous community positions such as, President of the Montgomery Kiwanis Club, President of the Alabama National Fair, and President of the YMCA Boys Work Committee. He is past President of the Montgomery Independent Insurance Agents Association and a past Board Member of Alabama Independent Insurance Agents Association. He has also served numerous times on the vestry of his church, St. John’s Episcopal Church. He currently serves as a Director for the Montgomery Country Club and was a member of Class XX of Leadership Montgomery.
J. Kyle Drumwright, AFSB
Vice President of Surety/Construction
Kyle joined Starke Agency in 1998 from the Economic Development Institute. He received his Bachelors in Business Management in 1997 from Auburn University and a Masters in Business Administration in 1998 from Auburn University at Montgomery. Kyle oversees the Bond Department and construction accounts. He received and has maintained his CISR since 1999 and AFSB designation since 2005. Kyle continually improves upon his industry knowledge by attending multiple bonding schools.
Kyle serves on the YMCA Boys Work Committee, volunteers for the Tukabatchee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America and is an active member of First United Methodist Church. Throughout the year, he also volunteers his time to various local charitable events.
Cynthia "Cindy" B. Howton, CIC, CISR
Vice President of Operations
Cindy began working for Starke Agency as an account advisor in 1986. She achieved and has maintained her CIC designation since 1997, as well as a CISR designation since 1991. She earned her bachelors in Human Resources from Troy University in 2001. As Vice President of Operations, Cindy is responsible for overseeing the Personal Lines Department, automation and office operations.
She has held the position of Board of Directors for Leadership Montgomery and Secretary for the Booker T. Washington Magnet High School PTSA. Cindy was also a Team Leader for the United Way Campaign for eight years, involved with the public school system for thirteen years, taught preschool mission friends at church and is currently an active member of Taylor Road Baptist Church.
Joseph "Joey" R. Beattie
Director of Marketing
Joey joined Starke in 2012 as Director of Marketing. He is a 2001 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi where he received a B.A. with an emphasis in History. Prior to moving to Montgomery, he worked for ten years as a producer for a large regional agency headquartered in Mississippi. As Director of Marketing, Joey is responsible for managing insurance company relationships and securing consistent market options for our customers.
Joey is involved in numerous community organizations. He is a member of the Montgomery Lions Club, 893 Council of the Knights of Columbus, and Montgomery Catholic High School Booster Club. Joey also coaches baseball in the Southeast Montgomery Baseball League and is an active member at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
